Bontrager Twentyfour12: Endurance mountain bike race in Devon in July

I thought I'd post this for anyone else who might be interested in endurance mountain bike racing:

Entries for the race, which is near Plymouth, are open now, and it takes place in July. You can do it at any level: in a team with 6 people, 4 people, as a pair or individually.  The race consists of a 14 km lap, and you do as many laps as you can in 12 hours or 24 hours (depending on which race you enter). The lap isn't particularly technical, but I think at least moderate mountain biking skills are definitely a plus. The atmosphere is great, with loads of companies selling discounted kit, live music in the forest as you're cycling round etc. Everyone camps so there's a bit of a festival atmosphere about the whole thing. I've just entered for my fourth year in the mixed pairs 12 hour race. It's really really good fun - I massively recommend it!

sounds great !!

I'm going to be entering the team of 4!

Who else is in?

I presume you will be doing the 24 hours on a rigid single speed Mark... :-)
hehe no I don't think so! I hear the course isn't too technical or hilly so a big ring all the way!

Have entered our team of 4 and just missed the old farts category by 1 year! Damn!

Never mind... old codgers category will do fine!

Can't wait for the fun in the trails... n BBQ n beer allowed!?

BBQ and beer positively encouraged!

On further digging I hear hte course is actually very hilly and technical! So need a double chainset for this then!
Are you racing in a team Susie or toughing it out and going solo?

Ha ha.. it's not that technical really. I only fell off four times last year :-)

My husband and I are doing the 12 hour mixed pairs. Not very many mixed pairs enter so we came fourth last year... hopefully it'll be the same this year and we'll get on the podium!!
