I thought I'd post this for anyone else who might be interested in endurance mountain bike racing:
Entries for the race, which is near Plymouth, are open now, and it takes place in July. You can do it at any level: in a team with 6 people, 4 people, as a pair or individually. The race consists of a 14 km lap, and you do as many laps as you can in 12 hours or 24 hours (depending on which race you enter). The lap isn't particularly technical, but I think at least moderate mountain biking skills are definitely a plus. The atmosphere is great, with loads of companies selling discounted kit, live music in the forest as you're cycling round etc. Everyone camps so there's a bit of a festival atmosphere about the whole thing. I've just entered for my fourth year in the mixed pairs 12 hour race. It's really really good fun - I massively recommend it!

Permalink Reply by Susie Lanaway on June 16, 2011 at 4:34pm Ha ha.. it's not that technical really. I only fell off four times last year :-)
My husband and I are doing the 12 hour mixed pairs. Not very many mixed pairs enter so we came fourth last year... hopefully it'll be the same this year and we'll get on the podium!!
